We are waiting to hear if we are the chosen family. Most domestic adoptions these days are open to varying degrees. In this case, the woman giving birth is looking at profiles of hopeful adoptive parents. She has ours, which includes a 3-page description about who we are and how we parent as well as 20 photos of us and our home. She also has several other profiles, so we wait for her decision. She doesn't want contact with the boys, but she would like letters and photos occasionally describing how they are. Twins. It's still hard to imagine. I hope I'll have an answer in a week or so, because there are so many preparations. No matter what, we are making our way closer to a baby. If this situation doesn't work out, we'll start planning our trip to China. Hey, we haven't had open-heart surgery or a transplant around here in a few years, or even a helicopter medical transport. We're due for some drama.

What a lovely addition that would make to your family. I'll look forward to any news on this front.

I'm not sure I like the idea of the "biological" mother being the one to choose. It seems as if that makes it a contest. Maybe the final say-so should be by someone(s) more impartial. I don't know. It just seemed unpleasant to me.
