New International Adoption Study

CHICAGO -- They are often born in poverty and civil strife, abandoned, put into an orphanage, and then suddenly uprooted and sent to live an ocean away with strangers from another culture. And yet, children adopted from abroad seem to adjust remarkably well, according to a new study that challenges the widely held notion that these youngsters are badly damaged emotionally and prone to disruptive behavior.

    I recall years ago the theory that "an only child" would not turn out well, selfish, not well adjusted socially, blah, blah, blah. All the new studies show the exact opposite. So, a lot of the old theories are just nonsense and are being disproved by better research methods. Apparently, this is one of those stupid myths being obliterated by the light of truth.
